Are you experiencing back pain caused by scoliosis? Are you concerned about your condition worsening? At Motion Physical Therapy in The Woodlands, Texas, we believe in taking a conservative, proactive approach to adult and degenerative scoliosis conditions.
Our physical therapy director, Larry Hixon, at Motion Physical Therapy is certified in 3-D Scoliosis Treatment based on the Schroth principles of correction. He has completed over 100 hours of training for treatment of early-onset, adult, and degenerative scoliosis.
Since the early 1920s, the Schroth Method has played an important role in conservative management of scoliosis in Germany. This method was developed by Katharina Schroth, who also suffered from scoliosis. The method of treatment she designed focuses on strengthening and stretching exercises to de-rotate and elongate the back into a more normal posture. The technique also utilizes special breathing exercises to produce forces that assist with the reshaping of the trunk.
Using Schroth principles and techniques, our certified physical therapist will design a scoliosis therapy program with exercises that are tailored to your condition. The program will utilize exercise and possibly specialized bracing to work towards improving your posture and ultimately to influence your condition in a positive manner.
Our goal is to equip you with curve specific exercises that will strengthen your trunk muscles, in order to provide greater trunk and spine stability. Greater activation of core muscle can help to slow down or even prevent further progression of your spinal curvature. In addition, building trunk strength can help to control your back pain.
Improvement in the health of our patients is our passion. Our physical therapy team is dedicated to slowing down, or even preventing, the further progression of scoliosis. We believe you should be able to enjoy life without having to worry about constant back pain, and our program will focus on integrating corrected sitting and standing posture into your daily living. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively manage the condition; not just now, but for a lifetime.
